Translational Seminar Series 2025
As it entered its third year, the seminar series “The ABC of Viral Hepatitis – From Translational Research to Clinical Practice” had established itself as a key platform for dialogue between basic science and clinical practice. The series was designed to foster interdisciplinary exchange and to highlight how innovative research could be translated into improved care for patients with viral hepatitis.
Each session offered valuable insights into the translational pathway — from groundbreaking findings in immunology and virology to clinical trial data, therapeutic strategies, and real‑world experiences. The seminars featured excellent talks, sparked lively and inspiring discussions, and brought together researchers and clinicians who shared perspectives, exchanged expertise, and built lasting connections.
Beyond knowledge sharing, the series strengthened long‑term interdisciplinary collaboration, supported innovation, and contributed to advancing patient outcomes in viral hepatitis research and treatment.
The series featured the followeing invited speakers (fall/winter 2025/2026):
27 October 2025:
Dr. Sabela Lens García
Viral Hepatitis Group, Liver Unit, Hospital Clínic Barcelona, University of Barcelona, FCRB‑IDIBAPS, Barcelona / Spain
“Understanding Hepatitis B/Delta: ongoing efforts”
8 December 2025:
Prof. Eui‑Cheol Shin, M.D., Ph.D.
KAIST – Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Daejeon / Korea
“Cytokine-induced bystander CD8+ T cell activation and its regulation in viral hepatitis”
26 January 2026:
Prof. Dr. Maike Hofmann
University of Freiburg, Translational Experimental Immunology, Freiburg / Germany
“T cell exhaustion and beyond: lessons from chronic viral hepatitis”
